Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Bahowal, Hoshiarpur under the aegis of Directorate of Extension Education, PAU, Ludhiana and ICAR-ATARI, Ludhiana, organized a training camp on gobhi sarson cultivation at its campus on 16-1-2025.
Dr. Maninder Singh Bons, Associate Director (Training), KVK Hoshiarpur informed that KVK has been organizing demonstrations on oilseeds over the years to promote their cultivation and this year also it has organized cluster frontline demonstrations on 125 acres in different blocks and villages regarding cultivation of gobhi sarson. While interacting with the farmers during this training camp for sharing important tips regarding successful conduct of these demonstrations, Dr. Bons, deliberated on the purpose of these demonstrations, canola cultivar of gobhi sarson, GSC 7 and discussed about its cultivation practices, pest management, oil extraction and health benefits of canola oil.
Experts from KVK Hoshiarpur delivered technical lectures during this programme. Dr. Prabhjot Kaur, Assistant Professor (Plant Protection) sensitized the farmers about the symptoms & management strategies for yellow rust disease of wheat and asked them to be vigilant regarding this. She also discussed about aphid in wheat & gobhi sarson and shared their integrated management practices.
Dr. Karmvir Singh Garcha Assistant Professor (Vegetable Science) discussed about integrated nutrition gardening and mushroom cultivation. He also informed that KVK is providing nursery of onion variety, PRO 7 and white button mushroom bags for sale to the farmers.
