Hoshiarpur/Oct11/Daljeet Ajnoha — The bhoomi pujan and flag-installation ceremony for the proposed 2,100-kundi Shiv-Shakti Maha Yajna was performed with religious fervour at the yajna site in Bassi Gulam Hussain, near Hoshiarpur, on Sunday.
The rituals were conducted in accordance with religious traditions under the presence and guidance of Mahant Uday Giri, spiritual head of Shri Siddheshwar Shiv Mandir. Devotees, religious leaders and prominent local figures attended the ceremony, which marked the formal beginning of preparations for the Maha Yajna.
Lawmaker calls for participation
Addressing the gathering, Hoshiarpur MLA Bram Shankar Jimpa said such religious gatherings strengthen mutual trust and faith among people. He urged residents to participate in the yajna, along with their families, and offer ahuti for global welfare under the guidance of Mahant Uday Giri.
Jimpa said Mahant Uday Giri had earlier organised a 1,101-kundi Shri Rudra Maha Yajna at the same site in February. He said such rare and divine events were possible only through divine grace, the blessings of gurus and the firm resolve of saints.
Call for peace and unity
Dr Harshvinder Singh Pahania appealed to people to contribute to the Maha Yajna being organised for world peace. He described the rainfall during the ceremony on the first day of Navratri as a sign of divine blessings.
Vinod Kumar Sharma, secretary of the Hoshiarpur Market Committee, said the upcoming yajna would be as unique as the earlier 1,101-kundi Maha Yajna and called upon all sections of society to work together for its success. Principal Aarti Sud also extended best wishes for the successful conduct of the event.

The bhoomi pujan and flag installation gave a religious start to preparations at the yajna site. The ceremony was attended by former minister Tikshan Sud, Hoshiarpur Municipal Council Mayor Praveen Saini, religious figures including Swami Purushottamanand, Baba Ranjit Singh and Swami Ramsharan Das, besides political leaders and local representatives.
Others present included former sarpanch Narvir Singh Nandi, sarpanch Sukhjinder Singh, Sanjiv Singla of Singla Industries, Shiv Ratri Utsav Committee president Harish Khosla, Bharatiya Janata Party leader Bharat Bhushan Verma and Ramtirath Ladi. A large number of devotees were also present on the occasion.
