Hoshiarpur/September 2/Daljeet Ajnoha Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Ashika Jain has announced that special voter registration camps will be set up at every polling booth in Hoshiarpur district on Sunday, September 6, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR)-2026 being conducted in Punjab on Election Commission of India directives.
Purpose and services at camps
The camps aim to ensure registration of all eligible citizens as voters and provide a range of election-related services at the booth level. Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will be present at their respective polling stations to assist citizens.
During the camp, eligible residents will be helped to fill and submit:
Form 6 – for inclusion of new names in the electoral roll
Form 6A – where applicable under SIR provisions
Form 8 – for corrections/modifications in existing entries (name, address, age, photo, etc.)
Relevant declarations and supporting documents will also be collected at the counters.
Focus on young voters and PwD electors
The Deputy Commissioner has specifically directed officials to maximise enrolment of 18–19-year-old first-time voters, stressing that youth participation is vital for a robust democratic process. Young citizens who attain the qualifying age by the prescribed cut-off date are urged to visit their polling booth and get their names included.
The camps will also identify Persons with Disabilities (PwD) voters and facilitate filling of Form 8 for appropriate marking and provisioning of election-related facilities for them.
Role of political parties and monitoring
Recognised political parties in the district are being informed in advance about the September 6 camps, and their appointed Booth Level Agents (BLAs) are being encouraged to participate actively to ensure transparency and effectiveness in the revision exercise.
All Election Registration Officers (EROs) have been instructed to personally monitor the camps at polling booths under their charge and ensure strict compliance with all Election Commission guidelines.
Arrangements at polling stations
Heads of schools and offices where polling booths are located have been directed to keep these premises open on September 6 and provide necessary furniture and other facilities to BLOs for smooth conduct of the special camps.

Ashika Jain has appealed to all eligible citizens in Hoshiarpur to visit their respective polling booths on September 6 to:
Get their names enrolled in the electoral roll
Get corrections made in existing details
Avail other election-related services under SIR-2026
The district has already completed the house-to-house enumeration and digitisation of forms ahead of schedule, and the current phase focuses on claims, objections and final enrolment before the draft rolls are finalised
