Former SGPC junior vice-president Avtar Singh Ria visited Mata Gujri College here on Thursday, reviewing academic and co-curricular facilities and praising the institution’s “systematic arrangements” for the new session.
Record enrolment, full support promised
Ria expressed satisfaction over “more-than-expected” admissions for the 2026-27 academic session and congratulated the principal and entire staff on the achievement. He assured the college management of his full cooperation in further strengthening academic and infrastructural standards.
During the visit, he took stock of classrooms, laboratories, library resources and other student support services, and lauded the continuous efforts being made for the all-round development of learners.
College honours Ria for academic contribution
In recognition of his significant contribution to academic affairs, Avtar Singh Ria was specially honoured by the college.
Principal Dr Bikramjit Singh warmly welcomed “Jathedar” Avtar Singh Ria and briefed him on the institution’s achievements in academic, religious, co-curricular, cultural and sports domains. Senior faculty members Jaswant Singh, Dr Gagandeep Singh, Maninder Singh and other staff were also present.
