Prithudak Tirth in Pehowa is witnessing a steady influx of devotees from across the country and abroad during Pitru Paksha, the period dedicated to offering prayers and performing rituals for departed ancestors.
This year, Pitru Paksha is being observed from September 26 to October 10. The period is traditionally marked by rituals such as pind daan, tarpan, charity and holy bathing.�
Gaddi Pandit Gangaram of Bharat and Acharya Deepak Kumar Maharaj, Peethadhishwar of the Akhil Bharatiya Shri Acharya Brahmin Purohit Akhara, said that the scriptures accord special significance to performing ancestral rites at Prithudak Tirth during Shradh Paksha.
According to religious belief, offering pind daan on the sacred banks of the Saraswati at this ancient pilgrimage site—believed to have been created by Lord Brahma—helps the departed attain salvation and brings peace and prosperity to the family.
Acharya Deepak Kumar Maharaj said that a large number of devotees had been visiting Pehowa from different parts of India and abroad to perform worship, pind daan, charity, holy bathing and tarpan for their ancestors. The pilgrimage centre has been witnessing a rush of devotees since early morning, he added.
