Hoshiarpur /September 18/Daljeet Ajnoha The Fast-Track Court in Hoshiarpur on Friday awarded the death penalty to Nanke Yadav, who was convicted of raping and brutally murdering five-year-old Harveer in the city in September last year.
Additional Sessions Judge Manpreet Kaur pronounced the sentence in the case.
According to the prosecution, the accused, a migrant worker, allegedly abducted the child from Hoshiarpur city on September 9, 2025, took him to an undisclosed location and sexually assaulted him before killing him. The incident had shocked the city and triggered widespread condemnation.
The police arrested the accused soon after the crime and initiated legal proceedings against him.
****Lawyer’s efforts hailed***
Advocate Ashwini Kumar Verma, a prominent lawyer of the city, extended legal assistance to the victim’s family after learning about the incident. He contacted the family and assured them that he would pursue the case to secure justice for them.
According to the advocate, he faced several challenges during the proceedings but examined every aspect of the case and continued the legal battle on behalf of the family. The court’s verdict on Friday followed the prolonged proceedings in the matter.

The victim’s family welcomed the court’s decision, describing it as “God’s justice” and the result of the lawyer’s efforts.
Residents also expressed satisfaction over the verdict, saying it had restored their faith in the judicial system and strengthened public confidence in the rule of law. The death sentence awarded by the Fast-Track Court has brought a sense of relief to the people of Hoshiarpur.
