Civil Surgeon reviews anti-dengue activities at hospital, quarters and construction site in Hoshiarpur

Hoshiarpur/September 7 /Daljeet Ajnoha— As part of the Health Department’s ongoing campaign to prevent dengue and eliminate breeding sites of the disease-carrying mosquito, Civil Surgeon Dr Mandeep Kamal today inspected the Civil Surgeon’s office, quarters adjoining the Civil Hospital and an under-construction area in Hoshiarpur, accompanied by District Epidemiologist Dr Jagdeep Singh.

Inspection of quarters and hospital premises

Anti-dengue teams carried out a detailed check of the quarters next to the Civil Hospital as well as various locations within the hospital complex. They examined coolers, flower pots, water containers and other potential sources of water stagnation. Wherever stagnant water was found, cleaning was ensured on the spot and unnecessary water-holding sources were removed or destroyed to prevent the breeding of dengue vector larvae.

The under-construction area of the Civil Hospital was also specifically inspected. Teams checked for possible water-accumulation points at the construction site and took immediate action to eliminate such sources. Officials were directed to ensure proper sanitation and to put in place measures so that water does not stagnate in future.

Civil Surgeon’s directions and public appeal

Dr Mandeep Kamal said eliminating sources where dengue-carrying mosquitoes breed is crucial for prevention, as stagnant water provides an ideal environment for larvae to develop. She directed concerned authorities to repair leaking water pipelines promptly to avoid water accumulation and deny breeding space to the mosquito.

The Civil Surgeon appealed to citizens to treat dengue prevention as a collective responsibility alongside the Health Department. She urged residents not to allow water to collect in and around their homes, quarters and offices, and to observe a “Dry Day” every Friday under the “Har Shukravar Dengue Par Vaar” (Every Friday, Attack on Dengue) campaign by checking and emptying all potential water containers.

She added that anti-dengue surveys, anti-larva activities and awareness campaigns would be further intensified and continued on a sustained basis.
