Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Punjab president and former Rajya Sabha member Dr Avtar Singh Karimpuri reviewed preparations for the party’s proposed ‘Build a BSP Government’ rally to be held at Adampur on October 9, marking the pre-nirvana day of Bahujan leader Kanshi Ram.
Dr Karimpuri took stock of the arrangements and assigned duties to party workers during an important meeting of BSP leaders and workers at Bhunga.
Speaking to mediapersons, he said the rally to be held at Adampur would be historic and give a new direction to Punjab politics. He said Kanshi Ram had dedicated his entire life to empowering the exploited, deprived and poor sections of society and making them the rulers.
“Taking forward his ideology and struggle, the Bahujan Samaj Party is committed to forming a government led by the Bahujan Samaj in Punjab,” Dr Karimpuri said.
He alleged that the people of Punjab were fed up with the anti-people policies of the present government, the state’s economic distress and the deteriorating law-and-order situation. Every section of society, he claimed, felt cheated and disillusioned.
“Under these circumstances, the Bahujan Samaj Party is the only reliable alternative before the people,” he said.
Dr Karimpuri appealed to BSP leaders, workers and the general public to reach Adampur in large numbers on October 9, pay tributes to Kanshi Ram and make the rally a success. He said a strong public response would demonstrate the strength of the BSP to rival political parties.
Punjab secretary Maninder Sherpuri, district president Daljit Rai, Nishan Chaudhary, Surjit Lal Pal, Dr Jaspal Singh, Varinder Vicky, Sandeep Pandori Sumlan and Joginder Chak Ladian were among those present at the meeting, along with other senior party leaders and BSP supporters from the district and Assembly levels
