Office of Language Department, Hoshiarpur Invites Entries for Punjabi Literary Creation and Poetry Singing Competitions

Following directions from the Director, Punjab Language Department, the District Language Office, Hoshiarpur, has invited registrations for this year’s district-level Punjabi Literary Creation and Poetry Singing competitions. As in previous years, the contests aim to promote interest in Punjabi language, literature and culture among students.
Entries must be submitted by August 20, 2026. Completed registration forms, verified by the head of the applicant’s school, may be delivered in person to the District Language Office, Hoshiarpur (Mini Secretariat, Third Floor, Room Nos. 307–308) or sent by email.
Dr. Jaswant Rai, Research Officer, explained that the competitions are held annually to foster a deeper engagement with Punjabi literary traditions among students. Only students up to Class 12 are eligible to participate. Each school may nominate a maximum of two students per category—poetry, short story, essay, and poetry singing.
Winners in each category at the district level will receive cash prizes of Rs. 1,000, Rs. 750 and Rs. 500 for first, second and third places respectively, or book sets from the Language Department, along with certificates. District first-place winners will advance to the state-level competition. Dr. Rai added that there is no entry fee and registration forms received after the deadline will not be accepted. Separate registration forms will be issued for each category.
