The torch relay for "Khedan Vatan Punjab Diyan-2026", launched across the state on August 12, will reach Hoshiarpur district on Sunday, August 23, ahead of the official start of the event, Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain said.
Jain said the relay will enter Hoshiarpur from Mehtiana after passing through several districts. In Mehtiana, local MLA Dr. Ishank Kumar, Arjun Awardee Gurdev Singh Gill and officials from the sports department will receive the torch. From Mehtiana the relay will proceed to Hoshiarpur and arrive at the Indoor Stadium at around 12 noon.
At the Indoor Stadium, coaches from the sports department and international athletes will welcome the torch. A district-level reception will feature Punjab Cabinet Minister Dr. Ravjot Singh, MLAs Bram Shankar Jimpa and Dr. Ishank Kumar, district administration officials and noted former players from various sports.
The deputy commissioner said the Hoshiarpur district will formally send the torch relay to Pathankot on August 24.
