Kharge’s Humiliation Is Not Just an Insult to an Individual but an Attack on Dalits, Constitution and Social Harmony/ Adv. Ranjit Kumar
Hoshiarpur /Daljeet Ajnoha/August 30— Expressing strong outrage over the alleged insulting treatment of Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress leader Advocate Ranjit Kumar, in-charge of the Chabbewal block, said the incident is not merely an affront to one person but a manifestation of a mindset that still seeks to determine a person’s dignity on the basis of caste.
Advocate Ranjit Kumar said Kharge’s humiliation wounds the dignity of the entire Dalit community and must not be taken lightly. He warned that those who try to justify caste prejudice under the guise of "purification" or ritual practices should understand that India now follows Dr B.R. Ambedkar’s Constitution, not Manu-based social norms.
Ranjit Kumar added that any political support for caste-based discrimination endangers national unity and democracy. Such incidents not only insult a section of society but also sow hatred and divisions among different social groups.
Directing a pointed question at the central Modi government, he asked if the government truly stands by the slogan "Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas," then why is caste-based humiliation being tolerated? He urged the government to move beyond speeches and slogans and demonstrate action on the ground.
He demanded an immediate and impartial investigation into the episode and called for strict legal action against anyone found guilty of violating the law or committing casteist humiliation, without succumbing to political pressure.
