Former Member of Parliament Avinash Rai Khanna expressed his gratitude to Union Minister for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal for accepting the demands of lawyers who had been on strike in protest against the Legal Aid Defense Counsel (LADC) system. Khanna met the Union Law Minister in New Delhi today and thanked him for taking a positive decision on the issues raised by the lawyers.
According to Jyoti Kumar Jolly, Secretary at Khanna’s office, Khanna, who is himself a lawyer by profession, had earlier met the lawyers who were on strike over issues related to the Legal Aid Defense Counsel System. He listened to their problems and demands in detail.
Taking the lawyers’ concerns seriously, Khanna spoke to Union Law and Justice Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal over the phone and appealed to him to consider their genuine demands sympathetically and take appropriate steps for their resolution. Jolly said that the Union Law Minister adopted a positive approach towards the demands and accepted them, following which the lawyers called off their strike.
To express his gratitude for this positive initiative, former MP Khanna personally met the Union Law Minister in New Delhi today.
On the occasion, Khanna said that lawyers are an important link between society and the justice delivery system. Addressing their genuine concerns is essential for further strengthening the judicial system. He said the acceptance of the lawyers’ demands by the Central Government was an example of resolving issues through dialogue and a positive approach.
Khanna thanked Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal and expressed hope that the Central Government would continue to adopt a similarly positive approach towards issues concerning the legal fraternity and safeguard their interests in the future.
He also appreciated the lawyers for ending their strike after their demands were accepted and for adopting a cooperative approach in the larger interest of the justice system.
