JSS Asha Kiran Special School celebrated the festival of Teej with great enthusiasm and traditional fervour, transforming the school campus with colourful decorations that reflected the spirit of the occasion. The programme opened with a warm welcome for chief guests Mrs Dolly Cheema, director of Surjit Gas Agency, and Mrs Sudesh Singla of Aalishan Hardware and Agarwal Timbers. The school management honoured them with floral bouquets and traditional bangles.
Diploma students presented cultural performances related to Teej that captivated the audience, and the children’s energy and talent drew widespread appreciation. Speaking at the event, Principal Mrs Shaly Sharma said Teej is not only a festival but a symbol of family values, love and Indian culture. She also noted that Mrs Cheema and Mrs Singla are regular benefactors of the school and have long been associated with the institution, contributing to the welfare of children with special needs.
At the closing of the programme, Dr Harbans Singh, president of Aashadeep Welfare Society, thanked the guests, donors, teachers, staff and volunteers and wished the special children a bright future. A special meal and kheer were served to the children, guests and school family in celebration of Teej.
Colonel Gurmeet Singh, general secretary of Aashadeep Welfare Society, conducted a tour of the school and said that 110 special children are currently enrolled at the institution. Also present were Aashadeep general secretary Colonel Gurmeet Singh, Mrs Madhumeet Kaur, Malkit Singh Maheru, Harmesh Talwar, Ram Asa, course coordinator Barinder Kumar, Vice-Principal Mrs Indu Bala, Principal Mrs Shaly Sharma, the full school staff and the special children.
On the occasion, Mrs Dolly Cheema donated Rs 10,000 and Mrs Sudesh Singla donated Rs 20,000 to the school. The school management expressed special thanks for their generous contributions.
