On Monday evening, MLA Bram Shankar Jimpa flagged off three buses from different localities in Hoshiarpur carrying devotees to major pilgrimage sites under the (Mukh mantri tirth Yatra)Chief Minister’s Pilgrimage Scheme. The buses are bound for Shri Khatu Shyam–Salasar Balaji, Haridwar–Rishikesh, and Mathura–Vrindavan.
Speaking at the event, Jimpa extended his best wishes to the devotees and said the Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is continuously facilitating visits to religious shrines for the state’s residents. He added that nearly 400,000 senior citizens from Punjab have so far availed benefits under the scheme.
Jimpa noted that the Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party national convener Arvind Kejriwal recently launched new pilgrimage routes from Hoshiarpur, enabling devotees to visit major religious centres across the country.
Under the scheme, devotees aged 50 and above are eligible to participate. The government provides free travel in AC sleeper buses, lodging and meals, he said, adding that the initiative relieves elderly pilgrims of the financial burden of visiting sacred sites.
Jimpa said that thousands of devotees from Hoshiarpur have previously been taken to various shrines including Mata Chintpurni, Naina Devi, Shri Anandpur Sahib and Shri Durgiana Temple. He inspected arrangements on the buses and spoke to passengers to ensure their comfort.
