The SIT has once again informed former Union Minister of State and former Chairman of the National Commission for Scheduled Castes, Vijay Sampla, to appear before it in Chandigarh on September 2, 2026. In this regard, Sampla has written to the SIT requesting that he be given September 3 as the date for his appearance.
Sampla said that he has important programmes and meetings already scheduled for September 2, due to which it would not be possible for him to appear on that day. He assured the SIT that he would appear on September 3 and extend full cooperation in the investigation.
Raising another important issue before the SIT, Sampla said that despite his repeated requests, the SIT has so far not provided him with any relevant documents. He said, “When I do not even know the basis on which the SIT is calling me, on what basis am I expected to submit my comments or record my statement?”
He said that he is fully prepared to cooperate with the SIT, but for the investigation to proceed in the right direction, it is equally necessary that the SIT extend full cooperation to him. Sampla demanded that all relevant documents or records on the basis of which he is being called for questioning or for recording his statement should first be provided to him.
Sampla said, “My objective is not to avoid the investigation, but to ensure that the investigation proceeds in the right direction. I am fully prepared to cooperate with the SIT, but the SIT should also cooperate with me. If the necessary documents are not provided, the time of the government, the SIT and my time will all be wasted, and no concrete outcome will emerge from the investigation.”
He further said that a proper comment or statement can be given only on the basis of correct facts and relevant documents. Therefore, he appealed to the SIT to provide him with all complete and relevant documents so that the investigation can move in the right direction and he can extend his full cooperation on the basis of the facts of the matter.
