The Eye Donation Association (Regd.), Hoshiarpur organising the Eye Donation Awareness Fortnight from 25 August to 8 September to create widespread awareness about eye donation and organ donation

The Association has been working continuously for the noble cause of eye donation since 2000. During the last 26 years, more than 1,500 corneas have been collected and made available for needy patients requiring corneal transplantation In addition, more than 26 bodies have been donated to medical institutions in Punjab for medical education and research.

The organ donation awareness campaign received a major impetus during the 350th Shaheedi Diwas Commemoration of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, when the Association intensified its efforts to motivate people to pledge their organs

As a result of these sustained efforts, more than 2,055 organ donation registrations from Hoshiarpur district have been recorded on the NOTTO portal, and Hoshiarpur has achieved the distinction of standing first among all districts of Punjab in organ donation registrations.

In recognition of these outstanding efforts, the Eye Donation Association, Hoshiarpur, was honoured with an Appreciation Certificate during the Independence Day function at Police Lines, Hoshiarpur. The honour was presentec by Cabinet Minister Dr. Ravjot Singh, Minister for NRI Affairs, Jails and Parliamentary Affairs, and Deputy Commissioner Smt. Aashika Jain.

During the fortnight, the Association will organise awareness camps, seminars, public meetings, pledge drives and educational programmes in schools, colleges, social and religious institutions and different areas of the district.

The Association appeals to the public to come forward and pledge their eyes and organs. A single pledge can bring light to someone's life and give hope to families waiting for a transplant.
