Major Breakthrough in Central Jail Hoshiarpur Viral Video Case: 12 Arrested, Including Two Jail Officials /SSP Sandeep Kumar Malik

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Hoshiarpur Sandeep Kumar Malik, while addressing the media, stated that following the circulation of a viral video from Central Jail Hoshiarpur on social media, an FIR No. 151 was registered at Police Station City Hoshiarpur based on information received from the jail authorities. During the investigation, one mobile phone was also recovered.

The SSP said that considering the seriousness and sensitivity of the case, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was constituted under the supervision of the SP Hoshiarpur. The SIT comprised the DSP (Detective), DSP City, SHO City Hoshiarpur and other police officials. Following a detailed investigation, the team has so far arrested a total of 12 persons.

According to the SSP, the key accused include Manpreet alias "Manna", who is alleged to have circulated the viral video, along with several other accused and external associates involved in the case.

He further informed that two officials of Central Jail Hoshiarpur have also been arrested during the investigation. They have been identified as Harbhajan Singh, Additional Superintendent, Central Jail Hoshiarpur, and Ravinder, Warden, Central Jail Hoshiarpur. With the arrest of these two officials and ten other accused, the total number of arrests has reached 12.

The SSP stated that all the accused will be produced before the competent court to obtain the necessary production warrants, and the investigation will be taken to its logical and legal conclusion. He emphasized that no individual involved in the case will be spared and that strict legal action will be taken against anyone found guilty.

SSP Sandeep Kumar Malik reiterated that Punjab Police is fully committed to upholding the rule of law and ensuring transparency in the prison system. He added that the investigation into this sensitive matter is continuing from every possible angle.
