Darbar Bapu Ganga Das’ Shri Mad Bhagwat Katha Continues at Mahilpur; Devotees Enthralled by Songs and Discourse

The ongoing Shri Mad Bhagwat Katha led by Darbar Bapu Ganga Das at Mahilpur continued to draw large, devoted gatherings on the occasion The assembly was enlivened by devotional songs such as “Main To Govardhan Ko Jaaun, Mere Veer Na Maaney Mera Manva” and “Shri Govardhan Maharaj, Tere Mathe Mukut Viraaj Rahyo,” which left the congregation visibly moved as Katha Vyas delivered the discourse.

The narrator recounted Lord Krishna’s instruction to the people of Vraja, urging them to abandon the worship of Indra and instead offer reverence to Giriraj (Govardhan). Krishna warned that indulgence in sensory pleasures—’Indra’ meaning the senses—never brings lasting satisfaction. Heeding Krishna’s counsel, Nanda Baba explained to the villagers that an old, mistaken custom had persisted in their household; once enlightened, they must abandon it.

Krishna then invited all the residents of Vraja to move toward Govardhan Hill, taking along their food, worship items and other raw materials. Those unable to walk traveled by carts, tongas and other conveyances, emphasizing that circumambulating Giriraj was imperative even if performed from a vehicle. Lord Krishna led the first circumambulation himself, accompanied by all the villagers.

At Govardhan, Krishna organized offerings ranging from the lightest fare—moong dal—to elaborate dishes, and personally performed the worship. In keeping with this tradition, 56 bhogs (offerings) were presented to Giriraj at the Katha venue, and the prasad was later distributed among the sangat (assembly).

Mukh sevadar (chief volunteers) named during the event included Mandeep Singh Bains, Paramjit Singh Bains (Inspector), Anil Kumar, Vicky Agnihotri, Ravi Kumar, Vikki, Pinky, Isha Garg, Manish, along with all committee members. The group, immersed in devotion, chanted praises of the Katha with heartfelt fervor.

The Katha committee has invited all lovers of religion and spirituality in the town to attend the discourse with their families at 6:00 p.m. daily. A communal langar (faith meal) will be served to all participants after the Katha.
