Davinder Singh Bajwa, DSP Tanda police station, and Barinder Singh Masiti appealed to residents to donate blood generously during their lifetime and to promote eye donation after death. DSP Davinder Singh Bajwa has donated blood 65 times so far, while his brother Barinder Singh Masiti, now 65, has donated blood 13 times.
Both men have consistently assisted those in need—supplying blood in accident cases, during childbirth, or when illness causes a critical loss of blood. “No country can manufacture blood, nor has any nation created eyes or organs,” DSP Bajwa said, urging people not to dispose of organs after death. “Had these organs been donated and reached those in need, the blind could have been given sight,” he added. “Life is transient, death is certain — therefore we should donate our eyes and bodies after death so they can benefit others.”
Present at the event were representatives of the Punjab District Hoshiarpur Eye Donation Society, which has received a state award, and Barinder Singh Masiti, the i-Donor in-charge from Tanda. They thanked people who have pledged their eyes after death and those who donate blood while alive. DSP Bajwa also appealed to his staff to donate blood as much as possible.
Several individuals at the DSP’s office were found to have donated blood more than 50 times — a commendable effort that reflects the Tanda police’s commitment to public service across Punjab. DSP Bajwa said he will continue donating blood as long as doctors permit. Community workers and eye-donation organizations thanked the officer for his selfless service. Special thanks were also extended to DSP Bajwa’s team and to social worker Barinder Singh Masiti, who cycles 30 kilometres daily to raise awareness.
