Former cabinet minister and senior BJP leader Tikshan Sood said the BJP received a major boost in Ward No. 21 of Peepalwala when Jassi Jaskaran Singh and his wife, Mrs. Mandeep Kaur, along with dozens of their supporters, formally left the Shiromani Akali Dal and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in the presence of former minister Tikshan Sood and Bibi Mohinder Kaur Josh.
Jassi Jaskaran, who served as district president of the Scheduled Caste wing of the Shiromani Akali Dal, said he was influenced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s development-oriented policies and by the local development work carried out by leaders Tikshan Sood and Mohinder Kaur Josh, prompting his decision to join the BJP. The couple and their supporters were ceremonially inducted into the party at a grand event today.
On the occasion, former minister Mohinder Kaur Josh, former minister Tikshan Sood, and former mayor Shiv Sood assured Jassi and the other leaders joining the BJP that their dignity and respect would be fully safeguarded within the party. Tikshan Sood said the Punjab government had failed on all fronts, and public trust in the Congress and the Akali Dal had been exhausted. He added that people of Punjab now look to the Bharatiya Janata Party with hope, believing it can lift the state out of the present crisis.
Sood urged everyone to unite and work to ensure BJP candidates win the municipal corporation elections so that a “double-engine” government can be established in Punjab in 2027 to set the state on the path of development. Present at the event were BJP leaders including Mandal President Sanju Arora, former councillor Ashok Kumar, Yashpal Sharma, Gurpreet Singh Gopi, Manjeet Kaur, Gurdeep Singh, Mohan Singh, Daljeet Kaur, Suman preet Kaur, Manju Bala, and others.
