Hoshiarpur/Daljeet Ajnoha/June 25
As part of the Punjab Government's ongoing "Yudh Nashian Virudh" (War Against Drugs) campaign, the district administration and police on Thursday demolished an allegedly illegal house constructed on Panchayat land in Sarhala Kalan village, under the jurisdiction of Chabbewal Police Station.
The demolition drive was led by SP Major Singh (PBI), who said the action was taken under the state government's initiative to crack down on alleged drug traffickers and remove properties illegally constructed by them. He stated that the demolished house allegedly belonged to Sandeep Kaur and her husband Buddh Ram, who are accused in multiple cases under the NDPS Act.
According to the police, 14 cases under the NDPS Act have been registered against the couple. They have reportedly been convicted in three to four cases and are currently serving sentences, while the remaining cases are pending before the courts.
SP Major Singh said the house had allegedly been built illegally on Panchayat land. A legal dispute over the land had been decided in favour of the Gram Panchayat. Following the completion of all legal formalities, the administration carried out the demolition.
The operation was conducted in the presence of DSP Bharat Bhushan, DSP Sham Sunder, SHO Harjit Singh (Chabbewal Police Station), SHO Ramandeep Kaur (Mahilpur Police Station), Panchayat Secretary Praveen Soni, Sarpanch Mohan Singh, and a large contingent of police personnel and civil administration officials.
