— The District Cricket Association (HDCA) will organize its annual summer training camp for children from June 8 to June 25, the association announced today. HDCA Secretary Dr. Raman Ghai said interested players can register at the HDCA ground, Railway Mandi (Government College Ground), until June 8.
Dr. Ghai said children attending the camp will be coached by national-level trainers who will teach the finer aspects of cricket and work on the participants’ fitness. At the conclusion of the camp, teams will be formed and matches will be held as part of the Summer Camp Cup. All registered participants will receive training certificates, and standout performers will be specially honoured.
HDCA President Dr. Daljit Khila appealed to the district’s youngsters to take part enthusiastically and strive to become outstanding players through hard work. Tournament committee chairman Dr. Pankaj Shiv, along with Vivek Sahni and Thakur Yograj, said the camp offers players a chance to prove themselves.
Dr. Ghai listed the coaching staff who will lead the sessions: district coach Daljit Singh; district trainer and former national player Kuldeep Dhami; Parveen Chintu; Pankaj Pinka; Dinesh Sharma; district women’s coach Davinder Kalyan; and assistant coach Nikita Kumari. He added the camp will run daily from 6:00–8:00 a.m. and 4:00–6:00 p.m., and players from across the district are invited to participate.
