In protest against the continuous thefts in Garhshankar city, the residents and shopkeepers of the area today staged a protest at the Garhshankar police station under the leadership of Pankaj Kirpal Advocate, state member of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee. On this occasion, Advocate Pankaj Kirpal said that about 100 thefts have taken place in Garhshankar city in the past few days, but the police administration is sleeping soundly. He said that the business community is troubled due to the continuous thefts in Garhshankar city. He said that the business community is already going through a recession and there is an atmosphere of panic and fear among the business community due to the thefts. He said that the law and order situation in the state has been completely destroyed. He said that if the thieves are not caught in a week, the struggle will be intensified and the police station will be surrounded again next Monday. Speaking on the occasion, Harvel Singh Saini said that Pankaj Kirpal has raised slogans in favor of traders by holding a dharna and protest against the continuous thefts in Garhshankar city. He said that at present the police administration has become a puppet of the Punjab government. On this occasion, General Secretary of Punjab Pradesh Youth Congress Pranav Kirpal said that the Congress party stands firmly with the traders. He said that the Punjab government wants to get votes by intimidating the traders, but Punjabis are not afraid. On this occasion, Harpreet Singh Sadhowal, Jasvir Singh Jassi Purkhowal, Kishan Sahota, Baggu Rana, Vaid Amrit Lal, Chetan Kumar, Jai Singh Rana, Ravinder Malhotra, Manjinder Monowal, Karpool Singh, Sunil Bassi, Gurmail Singh, Gagandeep Singh, Jagtar Singh Sadhowal, Rohit Kumar Possi, Raj Kumar, Deepak Kumar, etc. were present. On this occasion, SHO Gaganpreet Singh Sekhon joined the protest and assured that the thieves would be caught in three to four days.
