Pir Baba Rehmat Shah’s Two-Day Annual Mela Begins in Patti Village


Hoshiarpur (Daljit Ajnoha) — The two-day annual mela at the shrine of Pir Baba Rehmat Shah in Patti village, Hoshiarpur district, began today. Organized by chief sevadar Baba Ratn Singh Dhanota and supported by local sangats (community groups), the 36th edition of the mela will run on May 31 and June 1 with devotion, music and communal worship.
Today’s opening programme featured performances by prominent artists who paid their respects at the saint’s feet through songs, qawwalis and devotional recitations. Performers included Rajesh Chandla, Dalvinder Dayal Puri, Shri Das and Das Shiva Ropar, Raju Shah Mastana, Prem Heera, Upkar Patti, Harry Badshah, GJ Sidhu, Girdhari Lal and their accompanying parties. A ritual of offering a chadar (ceremonial shawl) will be performed tomorrow around 10:15 a.m. in the presence of the sangats.
The event drew notable guests, including Member of Parliament Dr. Raj Kumar Chabbewal and MLA Dr. Ishank Kumar Chabbewal, who attended as chief guests. On the sidelines, KK Ayurvedic Medicines & Acupressure Physiotherapy Care Centre organised a free medical camp for devotees. The mela also featured a performance by Ram Mauji Beat Group Chabbewal and the dholi (drummer) Pir Nigaha.
On the first day, chief sevadar Baba Ratn Singh Dhanota honoured the chief guests and other dignitaries. He acknowledged special support from village panch and Ajay Parmar. Manjit Raja handled stage arrangements and announcements.
Throughout the mela, devotees were continuously served langar (community meals) by the shrine. A large number of sevadars and sangats attended, including Baba Ratn Singh Dhanota, Nirmal Singh Nika, Sarabjit Singh Phul, Preet Samarala, Dharam Pal Dasuha, Shingara Chand Patti, Surjit Tajowal, Bhagat Ram Pal, Manjinder Singh, Baljeet Singh, Nirmal Singh, Madan Lal, Ranjit Kaur, Bhupinder Kaur, Kulvinder Kaur, Jaswinder Kaur, Satya Devi, Prabhjeet Singh Bajwa, Satnam Singh and Tarlok Singh among many others.
