Shromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader and former MLA Surinder Singh Bhullewal Rathan, along with party workers, visited Dana Mandi in Mahilpur in the Garhshankar area, exposing the stark reality behind the government's claims. Farmers' wheat crops were found lying exposed under the open sky, with severe delays in loading causing round-the-clock anxiety for growers. The lack of even basic seating arrangements highlighted the administration's failure.
Reacting on the spot, Bhullewal Rathan slammed the government's apathy, stating that the "annadatta" (food provider) was wilting in the mandi due to official indifference. He warned that if wheat loading and transport to godowns isn't arranged immediately, farmers could suffer massive losses, with responsibility falling squarely on the administration.
He demanded urgent fixes to mandi facilities, including shade, drinking water, and proper seating for farmers.
Those present included Harjit Singh, Charanjit Singh Manolian, Jas Mahilpur, Billa Manolian, Jarnail Singh Nurpur, Kamaljit Singh Bihran, Navdeep Saila, Niranjan Singh (former MC), Jagtar Singh, Balvir Singh Dhillon, Swaranjit Singh, Shiv Ji, Jagtar Singh, Amandeep Singh, and Rajinder Singh.
