Lok Sabha member Dr. Raj Kumar Chabbewal on Wednesday reviewed in the detail the progress of various ongoing development projects and welfare schemes across the district during the meeting of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) directing concerned officials to speed up the pace and accomplish the works within the stipulated time.


Accompanied by Cabinet Minister Dr. Ravjot Singh,  
Deputy Speaker Jai Krishan Singh Rouri, MLA Bram Shanker Jimpa, MLA Jasvir Singh Raja Gill, Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain and senior officers of various departments, Lok Sabha Member Dr. Raj Kumar Chabbewal gave necessary instructions to the officers regarding the status and completion of about 40 different programs including various development works and pro-people schemes. The Lok Sabha member, while discussing with the officers about the schemes of the Central and State Government, said that the completion time should be taken care of in larger public interest. He said that the benefits of welfare schemes should be reached out to every eligible beneficiary so that the people could take advantage of these schemes. Member Parliament Dr. Chabbewal directed to ensure timely arrangements to deal with the possible flood situation in view of the upcoming raining season and as the Kandi region often faces floods. He asserted that adequate arrangements should be made well in advance so that any emergency situation could be dealt efficaciously. He took stock of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and instructed the officials to ensure that the cases of providing financial assistance to the eligible beneficiaries for construction of permanent houses should be considered on priority.

Discussing as many as 140 works allotted under the MPLAD, Dr. Chabbewal also expressed satisfaction over the completed works besides directing to accelerate pace of ongoing works. On the suggestion of MLA Bram Shanker Jimpa to improve the condition of Una Road, Dr. Chabbewal gave direction to the NHAI , Forest Department and the officials of the concerned departments 
to strengthen this road as early as possible to facilitate thousands of daily commuters. He said that the concerned departments should work in tandem to execute the pro-people project in minimal timeline. 

Cabinet Minister Dr. Ravjot Singh asked about the status of the project of the medical college to be built in Hoshiarpur. The concerned officials said that the construction work of the medical college and hospital is going to start shortly and completed in the next two years. Lok Sabha Member Dr. Chabbewal also reviewed the progress of the work of Tanda to Dholbaha Road, Sahora Kandi to Garhdiwala-Raghwal Road to Pandori Atwal, Talwara-Mubarakpur Road to Hajipur Dholbaha Road via Bringli, Bairing, Bah Khushala, besides NH-44 from Mukerian via Hayatpur-Sibochak, Hardokhundpur-Ferozepur to Ghasitpur roads under the Prime Minister Gram Sadak Yojana. He also inspected the projects of Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana, Krishi Vikas Yojana, Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao Yojana, Child Development, Nutrition Abhiyan, National Horticulture Mission, Employment Creation Scheme, Kandi Canal Projects, Swachh Bharat Mission, MGNREGA and National Highways.

Dr. Chabbewal pointed out that Chief Minister Sehat Yojana and Maawan-Dheeyan Satkar Yojana of the Punjab government should also be taken up on priority. He urged the concerned officers to ensure that every beneficiary of these pro-people schemes gets the facilities. He said that registration under the Maawan-Dheeyan Satkar Yojana will start soon in the district so that women could get the benefits of this scheme of the Punjab government. He reviewed the release of adequate funds from time to time for building houses for homeless people under the Swanidhi Scheme and the development works going on in the villages under the Sansad Adarsh Gram Scheme.

Cabinet Minister Dr. Ravjot Singh told the officers that quality, transparency and timeline should be taken care of while continuously reviewing the works going on in the district. 

Deputy Speaker of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha Jai Krishan Singh Rouri also reviewed of the works related to the Garhshankar Vidhan Sabha constituency. MLA Jasvir Singh Raja Gill discussed the development works of Tanda constituency saying that priority should be given to completing these works within the stipulated time. On this occasion Improvement Trust Chairman Gurbinder Singh Pabla, Chairperson of District Planning Committee Karamjit Kaur, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Nikas Kumar, Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Nidhi Kumud Bambah and senior officers of various departments were present.
