A significant district-level meeting of the Old Pension Restoration Struggle Committee was held at Pandav Talab, Dasuya, under the leadership of District President Sanjeev Dhut and General Secretary Tilak Raj. Prominent attendees included State Convener Jasvir Talwara, Finance Secretary Varinder Vicky, Prince Palyal (Garhdiwala), and Rajat Mahajan.
During the meeting, members reviewed their previous struggles and outlined future strategies. Addressing the gathering, the leaders alleged that the Punjab Government is deliberately delaying the incomplete notification regarding the restoration of the old pension scheme issued on November 18, 2022.
They expressed concern that government employees are facing hardships while the Chief Minister remains occupied with foreign visits. The leaders further stated that many employees retiring under the New Pension Scheme (NPS) are compelled to take up labor work to sustain themselves, while the Punjab Government remains a silent spectator.
The committee leaders warned that wherever the Chief Minister visits in Punjab, members of the struggle committee will protest by showing black flags. They also alleged that the Punjab Government is functioning under the directions of the Central Government, which they said will not be tolerated.
The leaders demanded that the Punjab Government should restore the old pension scheme at the earliest. Failing this, they warned that around two lakh employees and their families will strongly oppose the government in the upcoming elections.
Among others present at the meeting were Jasvir Bodal, Umesh Kumar, Chaman Lal, Vipin Kumar, Manmohan Singh, Jaswinder Bulhowal, Ashok Bulhowal, Gurkirpal Bodal, and Satpal Kamahi Devi.
