Punjab Power Corp Hits ₹2,634 Cr Profit, Secures A+ Rating Under Mann Govt; Historic Power Tariff Cuts Announced

District Planning Committee Chairperson Karamjeet Kaur stated that due to the effective efforts of the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has achieved an A+ rating and earned a profit of ₹2,634 crore in the financial year 2024-25. She said this milestone shows that under the efficient management of the Mann government, PSPCL has emerged for the first time as a strong, efficient, and profit-making company.Kaur noted that this positive financial position has enabled the Punjab government to provide major relief to the state's residents by announcing a historic cut in electricity rates. Under the new tariff order, domestic consumers will benefit from a reduction of up to ₹1.5 per unit, directly easing the burden on millions of families. Expressing gratitude to Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, she added that he has always prioritized the interests of ordinary people.She further explained that commercial shops and businesses will see a cut of up to 79 paise per unit, while industrial units will get a reduction of up to 74 paise per unit. This will boost industry and trade, accelerating economic activities in the state.Kaur highlighted that electricity rates for electric vehicle charging stations have been slashed to ₹5 per unit—one of the lowest in India—promoting EV adoption and environmental conservation.Under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann's leadership, the Punjab government continues to deliver relief to people and take concrete steps for the state's development. This record tariff cut will prove to be a major relief for the general public, traders, and industries, further strengthening Punjab's economy.
