Senior BJP leader and former Cabinet Minister Tikshan Sood stated in a press note that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had shown people so many promises and guarantees before the Punjab assembly elections that it seemed Punjab would reach the pinnacle of progress once their government took over. Now, after four years, as people take stock, they realize that AAP misled them to form the government but, instead of developing Punjab, has been filling its own coffers. Nothing substantial has been done in the name of providing good education—only painting schools and laying foundation stones. The Education Minister himself admitted that children are not even being taught primary education properly. Those who claimed to improve health services by opening 16,000 Mohalla Clinics have ruined the existing health infrastructure. Most of these clinics have shut down, leaving health services to run on divine mercy. 56% of government doctor posts remain vacant, and provisions are being made to call in private doctors by paying them fees.Law and order has deteriorated to the point where, due to gunda raj (rule of thugs), no one feels safe. The business of religious conversions is rampant in Punjab. Under the patronage of the ruling party's leaders, illegal mining and the drug trade have quadrupled compared to before. The government has failed to provide 24-hour free electricity to all, and power tariffs have skyrocketed. Rates for CLU (Change of Land Use) for building construction have been hiked 2.5 times. Contrary to the promise of ₹1,000 per month to all women, more than half have been excluded, and the scheme has been reduced from five years to just one year. The government claims a lack of funds for development—roads are broken, and cities are littered with garbage. Punjab's debt has surged by ₹1.25 lakh crore in these four years. The conclusion is clear: in these four years, the AAP government has pushed Punjab back 40 years. The public now regrets its decision and hopes to soon get rid of this government to bring a BJP regime that can resolve all these issues.
