In Vastu Shastra, a building's shape, construction units, direction, colors, interior structure, decor, and the five elements are considered highly important—along with trees and plants. Trees and plants planted in the correct direction can eliminate even the most severe Vastu defects, while those in the wrong direction can create Vastu issues in the home. This is the view of internationally renowned Vastu expert and author Dr. Bhupendra Vastu Shastri. When planting in the home, start with the most sacred, divine, and worship-worthy Tulsi plant in the Ishaan corner (northeast), north, or east direction. Special attention must be given to keeping the area around the Tulsi plant clean. Filled with positive energy, Tulsi brings wealth, prosperity, health, respect, fame, and glory while also removing Vastu defects. However, avoid planting it in the south direction or Nairitya (southwest), as it won't yield positive results.Amla trees are also rich in positive energy; plant them at a fixed distance from the house in the east direction. The Ashok tree generates positive energy and can be planted in any direction for auspicious results, though it's most beneficial from the western part towards the southern part.Plant pomegranate (anar) only in the Agneya corner (southeast).Never plant a Peepal tree at home. It's auspicious if planted far from the home in the west direction at a public place, but inauspicious in all other directions. A Peepal growing in a home indicates a pitru dosh (ancestral defect). The Banyan tree is considered auspicious when planted far from the home in the east direction.Plant mango trees in the north direction.Tall trees like Sheesham, Teak, Deodar should be planted at a short distance from the house in the southern or western parts.Avoid planting Neem in the home courtyard's Brahmsthan (central area).Pomegranate and Harshringar plants are highly auspicious; plant them in the east direction or Agneya corner to gain Vastu benefits.Thorny, milky, Babool, Bonsai, Eucalyptus (Safeda), and Belia plants are considered inauspicious in Vastu. Do not plant these species at home.To create a positive environment, plant red-flowering plants in the south direction, white and yellow-flowering ones in the east, white and medicinal/large-leafed plants in the north, and light-colored, purple, or chocolate-hued small-leafed plants in the west. Ensure no tree's shadow falls on the building's roof during the second or third part of the day, as shadow defects are also a Vastu issue.
