Chabbewal MLA Dr. Ishank Kumar informed that under Project Roshani, a nationwide paediatric eye-care initiative being implemented under AIIMS, New Delhi, free eye check-up camps were organised for students in the Chabbewal constituency.
The camps were held in Government Senior Secondary Schools of Bassi Kalan, Attowal, and Phalahi, where a total of 660 students were screened. Students were examined by specialist teams and provided medical advice as required.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Dr. Ishank Kumar said, “Good eyesight is fundamental to a child’s education and overall development. Through Project Roshani, our aim is to ensure that no child in Chabbewal is deprived of learning opportunities due to treatable eye conditions. I am proud that our constituency has achieved the highest student coverage under this project at the national level.” He further stated that children found in need of spectacles or surgical treatment will be provided complete treatment free of cost under the project.
Dr. Ishank Kumar conveyed special appreciation to Dr. Priyanka Arora, DMC Ludhiana, for her dedicated coordination in organising these camps in Chabbewal, mentioning specifically that she was his mentor during his MBBS studies / training at DMC. He also thanked the school managements and staff for their full cooperation in the successful conduct of the camps
