Mahilpur Police Nab Youth with 55 Loose Intoxicant Pills

In line with Punjab government's directives to crack down on anti-social elements and drug traffickers, a special campaign is underway. Under the guidance of Senior Superintendent of Police Sandeep Kumar Malik, IPS, Hoshiarpur, and directions from DSP Daljit Singh Khakh, Garhshankar, Sub-Inspector Madan Singh, SHO at Mahilpur police station, along with SI Ramandeep Kaur (20/JR) and a police team, conducted patrolling with a laptop, printer, private vehicle, and search kit.While checking suspicious individuals near Toto Mazara from Mahilpur around 5:40 PM, the team spotted a youth standing near a closed petrol pump, a short distance from Toto Mazara. Upon seeing the police vehicle approach, he panicked and tried to flee. The SI, on suspicion, apprehended him with the help of fellow officers.The youth identified himself as Navjot Singh alias Karn, son of Jaswinder Singh, resident of Hayatpur, under Mahilpur police station, Hoshiarpur district, aged about 28 years. In the presence of witnesses, SI Madan Singh conducted a personal search using the e-Sakhi app and recorded video footage as per protocol. From the side pocket of his jacket, 55 loose intoxicant pills (light orange in colour) were recovered.A case under FIR No. 23 dated January 29, 2026, Sections 22-61-85 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Mahilpur police station, and further action is underway. The accused, Navjot Singh alias Karn, has been arrested, and interrogation is ongoing.
