The State Election Commission has announced the schedule for general elections to the district council and panchayat committee members across the state. District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner of Hoshiarpur, Ashika Jain, informed that according to the State Election Commission’s timetable, elections for 25 district council zones and 208 block committees will be held in Hoshiarpur district on December 14. Voting will be conducted through ballot paper.Ashika Jain stated that candidates can submit their nomination papers to the respective returning officer’s office from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM until December 4, 2025. The scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on December 5 (Friday), and the last date to withdraw nominations is December 6 (Saturday) by 3:00 PM.For filing nominations, 11 centers have been set up in the district—10 for panchayat committees and one for the district council. The district council nomination center is at the Court Room of the Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) office in Hoshiarpur. Other centers include Court Rooms and offices at various SDM, Tehsildar, and Block Development offices across different blocks such as Garhshankar, Mahilpur, Hoshiarpur-1 & 2, Bhunga, Tanda, Dasuya, Mukerian, Hajipur, and Talwara.Voting will be held on December 14, 2025 (Sunday) from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM by ballot paper. Counting of votes will be conducted on December 17, 2025 (Wednesday) at designated counting centers.The District Election Officer also informed that the State Election Commission has fixed the maximum election expenditure limit at Rs. 2,55,000 for district council candidates and Rs. 1,10,000 for panchayat committee candidates. He added that with the announcement of the election program, the Model Code of Conduct has come into immediate effect in all village panchayats under the district council and panchayat committees, and will remain in place until the conclusion of the election process.Ashika Jain assured that the district administration will conduct the elections impartially, freely, and peacefully, following all State Election Commission guidelines
