Banks' Pivotal Role in Taking Solar Energy to Every Household/Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain

Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain chaired a key meeting today organised by the district administration with cluster heads of all banks in the district. The meeting was held under the Centre and state governments' Go Solar initiative, aimed at encouraging more citizens to adopt solar rooftop systems.Addressing the gathering, Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain said that various government departments had previously been roped in under the project to bring the benefits of solar energy to the common people. Now, to make the initiative more effective, banks are being brought on board as partners. She noted that banks have a vast customer base and can disseminate information about the solar rooftop scheme to households through their customers.Ashika Jain stated that if banks promote solar rooftop systems alongside their loans, home loans, MSME financing, and other financial services, people will come forward more readily to adopt the scheme. This will not only reduce electricity bills but also promote environmental conservation and clean energy.She appealed to the banks to inform their customers about subsidies, financial assistance, and technical aspects related to solar rooftops, enabling more people to benefit from the scheme. The Deputy Commissioner expressed confidence that the joint efforts of the district administration and banks will give a new momentum to the Go Solar campaign, making Hoshiarpur district a model in the direction of clean and green energy.On the occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Nikas Kumar, Assistant Commissioner (General) Oishee Mandal, Secretary Red Cross Society Mangesh Sood, Joint Secretary Aditya Rana, along with officials from various banks, were present.
