During a special interaction held at the Punjab Police Headquarters, Sector-9 Chandigarh, Special DGP Naresh Arora shared important insights about his police journey, the government’s priorities, and the department’s functioning. In this conversation, he discussed in detail his journey from ASP to DGP, the Punjab Government’s “War Against Drugs” campaign, the process of paddy procurement and lifting, and the initiatives related to human rights.
Recalling his long career in the police service, DGP Arora said that policing is a challenging yet deeply fulfilling responsibility when it comes to serving society. He explained how he began his career as an ASP, served in various positions over the years, and is now serving as DGP. He admitted facing several challenges during this journey but maintained that service, discipline, and dedication remained his guiding principles throughout.
Speaking about the “War Against Drugs” campaign, he said it is the top priority of the Punjab Government, and Punjab Police is pushing the campaign ahead with full strength. Breaking the drug supply chain, taking strict action against traffickers, and creating awareness among the youth to keep them away from drugs are the primary objectives. He expressed confidence that, with society’s cooperation, the goal of making Punjab drug-free would soon be realized.
On the issue of human rights, DGP Arora underlined that Punjab Police ensures every action remains within the ambit of the law and is carried out transparently. He said that strict monitoring is being maintained so that the rights of no citizen are violated. He further added that the department has taken several reformative measures to strengthen the trust between police and the public.
