Punjab Government's Crackdown on Drug Smugglers: Unauthorized Constructions Demolished in Denowal Khurd*

As part of the Punjab government's 'Yudh Nashian Virudh' campaign aimed at eradicating drug abuse, Hoshiarpur police, in collaboration with the Panchayati department, demolished unauthorized constructions on panchayati land in Denowal Khurd village, Garhshankar.
The demolition drive targeted 5 unauthorized structures built on 13 marlas of panchayati land by 9 individuals against whom 100 FIRs have been registered, including 92 related to NDPS cases. Some of these individuals have already been convicted in various cases.
Action Against Drug Smugglers
SSP Sandeep Kumar Malik stated that the action was taken following a request from the Block Development and Panchayat Officer for police assistance to demolish the unauthorized constructions. The individuals against whom action was taken include Gulzar Singh, Sukhwinder Rani, Gurdayal Singh, Amarjit Kaur, Nirmal Chand, Inderjit, Joga Singh, Santokh Singh, and Joginder Singh.
Continued Action Against Drug Smuggling
Malik emphasized that the Hoshiarpur police would continue to take strict action against drug smuggling and unauthorized encroachments under the directives of the Punjab government. He urged the public to provide information about such illegal activities and assured that swift and stringent action would be taken against the culprits.
Warning to Drug Smugglers
The SSP warned drug smugglers to either quit the illegal activity and take up legitimate work or face strict action. He noted that the local residents were troubled by these smugglers and have welcomed the Punjab government's action.
Public Support
The local residents have expressed their support for the Punjab government's efforts to eradicate drug abuse in the state. The action was carried out in the presence of SP Major Singh, DSP Palwinder Singh, DSP Jaspreet Singh, and other officials.
