Cabinet Minister Mohinder Bhagat will hoist the national flag during the district-level Independence Day celebrations on August 15 at the Police Line Ground. This was announced by Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain after reviewing the full dress rehearsal for the event, which was also attended by SSP Sandeep Kumar Malik.
During the rehearsal, the parade was inspected by DC Jain and SSP Malik, led by Parade Commander DSP Manpreet Sheemar. The parade included contingents from district police, women police, Punjab Home Guards, 12 Punjab Battalion NCC, Scouts and Guides, and the PRTC Jehan Khelan band.
Schoolchildren presented a mass PT show, cultural performances, and energetic bhangra and giddha performances, showcasing patriotism and enthusiasm. The Deputy Commissioner stated that during the main event, Cabinet Minister Mohinder Bhagat will honor families of freedom fighters, martyrs, and individuals who have made significant contributions to society and various departments.
After the rehearsal, DC Jain addressed a meeting of officials, emphasizing the importance of fulfilling their responsibilities with dedication. She appealed to the public to actively participate in the Independence Day celebrations, marking 78 years of India's freedom.
The event was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Nikas Kumar, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Amarbir Kaur, RTO Amandeep Kaur, SDM Hoshiarpur Gursimranjeet Kaur, DRO Amandeep Chawla, DDPO Sandeep Singh, and other officials.
