District Administration Remains Vigilant, Ensures Effective Arrangements in Flood-Affected Areas: Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain*

The district administration of Hoshiarpur has made comprehensive and effective arrangements to deal with flood-like situations. Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain today conducted a thorough visit to flood-affected areas of Tanda, Dasuya, and Mukerian to assess the situation.
She clearly stated that the district administration is alert 24x7 and is providing necessary resources and facilities in each affected area. First, in the presence of Tanda MLA, she reviewed Rara Mand, Miyani Mand, village Abdullapur, and the Dhussi Bandh along the Beas River. She also inspected villages Motla and Mehtabpur in Mukerian.
SSP Sandeep Kumar Malik, ADC (Rural Development) Nikas Kumar, and officials from drainage, health, police, and other departments were present during the visit. MLA Urmur Tanda, Jasvir Singh Raja Gill, said that the district administration officials are present on the ground, monitoring the situation, and ensuring all necessary arrangements by the government.
The Deputy Commissioner inspected the Rara Mand, Miyani Mand, village Abdullapur, and the Dhussi Bandhs along the Beas River and directed the concerned departments to be prepared at all levels. She informed that the Bhakra Beas Management Board and the state-level drainage department are in constant coordination to take immediate action in any emergency.
She also informed that Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has taken detailed information about the district's situation over the phone and has given clear instructions that no negligence or shortcomings will be tolerated in relief and rescue operations.
The Deputy Commissioner stated that the district administration has already ensured sufficient stock of medicines, tarpaulins, boats, food supplies, and other essential items. Teams led by SDMs in the sub-divisions, comprising drainage, health, police, and other departments, are working day and night.
She informed that the administration has 11 boats, with 5 in Tanda and Dasuya, 4 in Mukerian, and 2 kept in reserve at the district headquarters, which can be deployed anywhere in an emergency.
The Deputy Commissioner appealed to the district residents to maintain a safe distance from rivers, canals, and dams due to the high water level caused by heavy rainfall.
