DC Ashika Jain Inspects Flood-Prone Villages Along Beas River Ahead of Monsoon – ₹1.20 Crore Spent on Protective Studs; Additional Funds to Be Released Soon

In view of the upcoming monsoon season and the potential threat of flooding, Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain, accompanied by SDM Mukerian Kamaljeet Singh and Drainage Department SDO Sukhpreet Singh, conducted a field visit today to flood-prone villages situated along the Beas River, including Naushera Pattan, Hoshiarpur Kalota, and Mahitabpur.
During her visit, the Deputy Commissioner assured residents that the Punjab Government is fully alert and prepared to handle any possible flood situations. She informed that the government had already sanctioned ₹1.20 crore for the construction of protective studs along the riverbanks, which have now been completed.
She further stated that, considering the villagers' requests and the past damages caused by floods, an additional amount of approximately ₹1.5 crore will soon be released to cover the remaining vulnerable areas, ensuring the protection of residential areas and agricultural land from floodwaters.
The villagers expressed gratitude towards the Punjab Government and district administration for their proactive approach. Farmers particularly appreciated the government’s efforts in ensuring uninterrupted power supply and timely canal water for irrigation.
Present during the visit were village representatives including Sarpanch Jaswinder Singh, Nambardar Baljeet Singh, Baba Malkit Singh, Nambardar Avtar Singh, Ravinder Singh Rammi, Kuljit Singh, Tarseem Singh, local farmer leaders, and other residents.
